When You Arrive

Whether you fly in to Omaha or Lincoln, there are multiple options for getting from the airport to your lodging or other destination. From the Omaha airport, you can rent a car or take the OmaLink shuttle to any location in Lincoln. From the Lincoln airport, you may take a taxi or shuttle, and rental cars also are available. Some local hotels provide courtesy shuttles to and from the airport. See your hotel’s website for more information about hotel shuttles.

Accommodations

Dorms

The dorms are known as “The Village” and are located at 1055 N. 16th St. More information on the The Village, including a virtual tour, can be found on their web page.

If you are arriving in Lincoln by plane, the best way to get to the Village is to take a cab to the address above. You’ll find the check in desk (available 24 hours) on the north side of the building. Your dorm stay will include all the linens (sheets, blankets, towels) you will need, and will include full board at Selleck Dining Hall.

We will have bus transportation from the dorms to the Embassy Suites, however, this is walkable. People will be picked up and dropped-off at the Village on the East Side of the building/16th St.

When you check into The Village, the registration desk there has parking tags available for both surface lots and parking ramps.

Embassy Suites Hotel

The Embassy Suites is located in Downtown Lincoln near the Historic Haymarket and adjacent to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The Embassy Suites (conference hotel) block is now full. Those arriving by plane will be able to take a shuttle from the airport to Embassy Suites.

There will be a shuttle running from Embassy Suites to other conference venues. They will pick up and drop off on the East Side of Embassy Suites – at the Bus Stop.

Bike Rental

A bike is often the most convenient way to get around campus and Lincoln, and there are many bike trails to use during down time.

You can rent a bike for a day, 3 days, or longer from UNL’s Campus recreation. Each bike will include a lock.

Traveling with Children

Day Camps

Lincoln offers a wide variety of summer activities for kids. Located two blocks from the Embassy Suites, Lincoln’s outstanding Children’s Museum offers day camps for children 3-10 years old. The week of July 15-19, the Museum is offering “Splash of Color” camp, where kids can explore the world of art. More information is available here. For animal lovers, the Lincoln Children’s Zoo is offering a number of camps for children ages 4-12. The little ones can “Monkey Around” or “Go Wild”, while the older ones can explore a career as a Jr. Zookeeper. Information about these camps is available here. UNL’s campus recreation center offers Husker Kids and Husker Adventures for 2nd-8th graders. Like an all-day P.E. class, complete with indoor and outdoor games and swimming, these camps are great for active kids. Registration for the Husker day camps is available here. The Haymarket Theater is offering “The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe” minicamp the week of July 15-19. Located close to the Embassy Suites in the Historic Haymarket, this camp is for ages 7-18.
